關於我們(About Us)

        輪機工程系的教育目標主要在於培養優秀的商船輪機管輪及相關輪機工程人員,此外亦積極培養與海(陸)運輸及陸上各型工廠相關之機械設計、電機控制及動力系統操作等專業人才,以擔負海(陸)運輸及相關領域之系統設計、控制、維護、操作及管理等工作。值得一提的是,本系所有課程皆經過船級協會驗證,並符合 STCW國際公約的課程規劃,因此,學生畢業後,即可直接參加最高等級(一等)管輪考試。

        為配合STCW國際公約的 課程規劃,並兼顧學生畢業後的發展性,本系於旗津校區配置有「輪機模擬機教室」、「輪機實驗室」、「輪機專業電腦教室」、「蒸汽動力實驗室」、「熱流實驗室」、「聲學與動力實驗室」、「計算流力實驗室」、「智能控制實驗室」、「電力系統實驗室」、「船舶同步工程實驗室」、「電腦工程實驗室」、「振動實驗室」、「專業製圖教室」等專業實驗室,以供教學及研究使用;此外,亦設有「主輔機實習工廠」、「船舶機械工廠」、「外燃機工廠」、「車鉗工廠」等大型實習工廠,以供學生實習之用。此外,本系亦設有「船舶電機實習工廠」、「自動控制實習工廠」、「電機配線實習工廠」、「電子實驗室」、「機電整合實驗室」,以供學生於電子、電機、自動控制方面之實習用。

        目前本系與各航運公司(例如:長榮、陽明、台航、中鋼運通、萬海、台塑、新興、裕民、中航...等)皆維持良好的產學合作關係,每年均儘量提供具有上船實習意願之學生完成在學期間「海上實習」的機會。近年來,由於系友上船工作(月薪約10~30萬元) 的人數有逐年增加的趨勢,且在各航運公司的表現,均獲得讚賞與肯定,因此,有多家航運相關公司於本系設立獎助學金,以輔助家境清寒但努力向學之學生。對於畢業 後沒有上船服務意願的同學,在完成本系所設計之專業訓練課程後,亦可至電廠、汽電共生廠、電子半導體廠、石化廠、煉鋼廠、港務 局、貨櫃中心、海關、海巡署...等場所就業。不同於一般傳統的機械或機電相關科系,本系畢業學生就業市場將更加寬廣,且將來的發展領域亦更加沒有限制。自103年起增設輪機類高考及普考後,提供本系畢業學生另外一條職場就業選擇。

        本系現有五專(各年級一班)、四技(日間部二班、進修部一班)、二技(各年級一班)、研究所碩士班(各年級一班)及碩士在職專班(各年級一班)等學制,其中,五 專、四技日間部、二技、及研究所碩士班位於旗津校區上課,四技進修部及碩士在職專班則位於楠梓校區及旗津校區上課。近幾年來,隨著本系師資陣容的提升,研究能力的增強,產學合作對象已擴及各大公、民營企業機構與政府研發單位,如科技部(國科會)、教育部、台船、台電、中科院、海發中心、中油、農委會、市政府...等。此外,本系亦於97學年度增設「產學合作專班(四技)」一班(100學年度改採內含取代原四技一班),並於96學年度陸續開始向教育部申請增設「博士班」一班,以使海事相關人才能夠有更完善的升學管道。

 

Educational Objectives and Professional Cultivation
The primary educational objective of the Department of Marine Engineering is to cultivate outstanding marine engineers for commercial vessels, alongside related marine engineering personnel. In addition, the department actively develops professionals in mechanical design, electrical control, and power system operation relative to marine/land transportation and various onshore industrial plants. This prepares graduates to undertake system design, control, maintenance, operation, and management within marine (land) transportation and associated fields. Notably, all courses offered by the department are certified by classification societies and fully aligned with the STCW International Convention. Consequently, graduates are eligible to immediately sit for the highest-level (First-Class) Marine Engineer Officer Certification examinations.

State-of-the-Art Teaching and Research Facilities
To comply with the STCW curriculum framework while expanding students' future career versatility, the department has established numerous specialized laboratories at the Cijin Campus for teaching and research. These include the Marine Simulator Classroom, Marine Engineering Lab, Specialized Marine Engineering Computer Lab, Steam Power Lab, Thermal Fluid Lab, Acoustics and Dynamics Lab, Computational Fluid Dynamics Lab, Intelligent Control Lab, Power Systems Lab, Ship Concurrent Engineering Lab, Computer Engineering Lab, Vibration Lab, and Professional Drafting Classroom. Furthermore, large-scale training workshops are available for hands-on student practice, such as the Main and Auxiliary Machinery Workshop, Ship Machinery Workshop, External Combustion Engine Workshop, and Lathe and Benchwork Workshop. To support practical training in electronics, electricity, and automatic control, the department also features the Ship Electrical Engineering Workshop, Automatic Control Workshop, Electrical Wiring Workshop, Electronics Lab, and Mechatronics Lab.

Industry-Academia Collaboration and Career Outlook
Currently, the department maintains robust industry-academia partnerships with major shipping companies, including Evergreen, Yang Ming, Taiwan Navigation, China Steel Express, Wan Hai, Formosa Plastics, Sincere Navigation, U-Ming, and Chinese Maritime Transport. The department maximizes efforts annually to provide students who wish to work onboard with maritime internship opportunities during their studies. In recent years, an increasing number of alumni have pursued careers at sea (with monthly salaries ranging from NT$100,000 to NT$300,000), earning widespread praise and recognition across the shipping industry. As a result, several maritime corporations have established scholarships within the department to support hardworking students from low-income families.

For graduates who prefer not to work onboard, the professional training curriculum equips them for employment in power plants, cogeneration plants, semiconductor factories, petrochemical plants, steel mills, port authorities, container terminals, customs, and the Coast Guard Administration. Distinct from traditional mechanical or mechatronics departments, our graduates enjoy a broader job market with unlimited prospects for future growth. Furthermore, the inclusion of the Civil Service Senior and Junior Examinations for the Marine Engineering category since 2014 offers graduates an additional premier career path.

Academic Programs and Research Development
The department currently offers a comprehensive range of academic tracks, including a 5-year Junior College program (one class per grade), a 4-year Bachelor's program (two day-division classes, one continuing-education class), a 2-year Bachelor's program (one class per grade), a Master's program (one class per grade), and an Executive Master's program (one class per grade). The Junior College, Day-Division 4-year Bachelor's, 2-year Bachelor's, and Master's programs are hosted at the Cijin Campus, while the Continuing-Education 4-year Bachelor's and Executive Master's programs are held across both the Nanzih and Cijin Campuses.

Driven by an enhanced faculty lineup and strengthened research capabilities in recent years, the department's industry-academia collaborations have expanded to major public and private enterprises, as well as government research institutions. Partners include the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), the Ministry of Education, CSBC Corporation, Taipower, the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), the Naval Shipbuilding Development Center, CPC Corporation, the Ministry of Agriculture, and various city governments. Additionally, the department established a dedicated 4-year Bachelor's Industry-Academia Collaboration Class in the 2008 academic year (integrated into the standard enrollment quotas in 2011) and began applying to the Ministry of Education for a Ph.D. program in the 2007 academic year to provide maritime talents with a more complete pathway for advanced academic pursuit.
